Srinagar, Feb 09 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir exported more than 637,000 metric tonnes of fruit outside the Union Territory during 2024–25, generating a turnover of over rupees 3,171 crore, according to data released by the Agriculture Production Department (Horticulture). Mandi-wise figures, accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), show that Sopore fruit mandi in Baramulla district accounted for the highest volume of fruit exports. Sopore alone exported 289.22 thousand metric tonnes of fruit during the year, generating a turnover of rupees 1,387.50 crore. Kanispora mandi in the same district exported 10.39 thousand metric tonnes, with a turnover of 47.94 crore. Shopian’s Aglar fruit mandi emerged as the second-largest contributor, exporting 121.19 thousand metric tonnes of fruit and generating 628.34 crore in turnover. In south Kashmir, Jablipora fruit mandi in Anantnag exported 64.86 thousand metric tonnes of fruit, with a turnover of 282.90 crore. Pulwama district exported fruit through two mandis — Prichoo and Pachhar. Prichoo mandi handled exports of 22.44 thousand metric tonnes with a turnover of 116.99 crore, while Pachhar mandi exported 13.56 thousand metric tonnes, generating 70.56 crore. Parimpora fruit mandi in Srinagar exported 32.29 thousand metric tonnes of fruit during the year, with a turnover of 165.06 crore. In Kulgam, the Kulgam fruit mandi exported 16.81 thousand metric tonnes, earning 67.62 crore. In north Kashmir, Handwara mandi in Kupwara exported 36.16 thousand metric tonnes of fruit with a turnover of 113 crore, while the Kupwara mandi handled exports of 2.63 thousand metric tonnes, generating 132.38 crore. Zozna mandi in Ganderbal exported 4.67 thousand metric tonnes of fruit, earning 19.97 crore. Budgam’s Zaloosa mandi at Charar-e-Sharief exported 5.65 thousand metric tonnes of fruit, generating a turnover of 26.12 crore. In the Jammu region, Narwal fruit mandi exported 17.70 thousand metric tonnes of fruit during 2024–25, with a turnover of 113.18 crore. Overall, fruit exports from Jammu and Kashmir during 2024–25 stood at 637.57 thousand metric tonnes, with a cumulative turnover of 3,171.56 crore, the data shows—(KNO)
